You scan the merchant’s QR. Follow these steps in the official app using our annotated screenshots or illustrated checklists.

What to do, step by step
- Open Alipay at checkout
Ask if the merchant accepts Alipay. Open the official Alipay app on your own phone.
- Tap “Scan”
On Alipay’s home screen, find the “Scan” option and give the app camera access if prompted.
- Scan the merchant’s QR code
Point your camera at the QR code provided by the shop. Wait for Alipay to show the payment details.
- Check and confirm the amount
Enter the amount if asked. Verify the merchant name, amount, currency and payment card; then confirm inside Alipay.
- Check for payment success
Wait for a success status in Alipay and confirm with the cashier. If it is pending, check transaction history before paying again.
